Based on what we discussed on the topic below, do you think the media reports increased the attention brought to this man and his ideas? Is this a positive or negative thing? Or both?
In every way possible is this just a publicity stunt. No one except his congregation would give a crap about his bon fire. He just wanted to make a scene so that Yosemite Sam could have his opinion heard across the nation and unfortunately across the globe. It probably wasn’t in his intentions to put our soldiers at risk but it almost happened and if this is all it takes to start a killing spree then there is going to be hell to pay in the near future. If you have something you know will directly put people at risk you may practice it but please do so without gathering attention to you or a group.
The media reports definitely gave the man the attention he wanted. He could've burned the books in his backyard and that would've been the end of it, but he was seeking for attention, trying to gather followers, and trying to make the burning of the Quran an International holiday. This is both a positive and negative thing - Positive because it lets people know that there is still a limit to an individual's freedom; negative because it put our troops in danger.
I think whatever inspired him to burn the books is to get the media attention. Like Elaine states, he could've just burned the books in his back yard without attracting attention, but he wanted attention. Which is why this issue is still going on. People really shouldn't care what he does, it does not harm anyone in any way, it just causes a riot.
I aqree with Nick & Elaine :). This man was eventually looking for attention and publicity. If he really wanted to burn the Quaran bible he would've done it and not caused a big deal about he wanted media and attention. If you want to really do something you do it not make a big deal about it he was just talking but not walking.

I also agree with Elaine that his inform on what he might had done is a postive and negative things. The reason that because it's event of whoever against Muslim relegion will have chances to express in a limited way, and it's negative because it might be a start of the revolution on anti-muslim, from whoever have a big impact on 9/11.
