  2. In my professional opinion i believe that the political cartoon is saying that the USA and new yorkers will have no tolerance for the building of the mosque three blocks away from the ground zero memorial.

  3. This political cartoon is stating that the US has no tolerance and therefore they are being targeted in this cartoon. The cartoonist is trying to critique the US and compare them to a scarecrow in the similiraty of it scaring crows and not tolerating crows, the US is not going to tolerate the muslims to build a mosque.

  4. To me, this political cartoon means that Muslims are not free to worship their own religion, and are being seen as an outcast in society. The cartoonist is trying to say that many people are intolerant of Muslims in general, and instead of building a mosque, Muslims should have the scarecrow in the mosque's place (because the scarecrow shows intolerance). But Americans do have a reason to be hesitant about building the mosque, since after all, many Americans were killed in the tragic 9/11 incident. Even after almost a decade, it remains deeply in many people's hearts. Also, of all places to build a mosque, they choose to build it near the site of the attack, which is why there is so much controversy of the building of this mosque. Muslims, whether they like it or not, are now in the spotlight – it can be unwanted attention for some, since the mosque will remind many Americans of the incident, therefore showing negativity towards Muslims in general.

  5. In this political cartoon indicate one of the issues that lots of Americans are debate about it, especially with the resident at New York. This is about construction of a mosque near to the Ground Zero Memorial. The cartoonist refer the scarecrow as the people who are against or unsympathetic to the idea that the mosque might be build. The reason Americans are unsympathic because of the incident of 9/11.

  6. Since the attack in September 11, 2001, Americans have doubted the Muslim religion in general instead of attacking the exact people who caused the accident. Building a mosque is a big debate because of all the places in New York to build it, they choose a site near Ground Zero. But there's a few reasons why this debate makes no sense whatsoever:
    1. It's not strictly a mosque.
-A Mosque is purely a religious place, but the one that is going to be built is actually
"a large proposed community center, open to the public and set to house, among other things, a basketball court. Yes there will be a prayer space inside it as well, but you don’t call St. Mary’s Hospital a church because it happens to have a chapel inside it, do you?"

Americans have grown intolerant of Muslim activities BECAUSE of the terrorist attack, but not all muslims are terrorist. The attack has formed a religious stereotype that hurts the Muslim community.

  7. Intolerance is a very un-American concept. This cartoon is trying to make Americans look like the big bad wolves. This current event is causing uproar in the only country that has always accepted people. Everyone from all borders to all ferries; people are given a chance to succeed. Yet this whole mess about ground zero is out of control. I am an American. I know what makes this country what it is and I believe that what we are doing is not right not to the slightest degree. This comic shows that America is ignorant to other people’s beliefs. Even though Al-Qaeda was blamed for this horrific attack on our soil, we shouldn’t punish the whole religion. This intolerance makes this religion look like a tribe that is only out for blood, but that is not the case. Sooner or later this type of controversy will lead to the next crusades will turn to be a huge war over Christians and Muslims. I myself am an atheist, so I think everyone is just idiots, but I am able to show compassion and know when something is morally wrong. This is one of those times where we as Americans must look at ourselves and think, do we really want to be known for this. I say no, let’s build this place of “worship” and show the world that we are still and forever the greatest country in the world.

  8. America is a country of tolerance. Therefore we should let the muslims build their mosque in ground zero. After all what happened in the Past was years ago. We should show some respect and let them build the mosque. What the caroonist is trying to say that the U.S is intolerant towards the muslims building near Ground zero which is close to where the accident happened. In my personal oppions i am with the building of the Mosque i have nothing against muslims and i dont find it wrong even though this might bring bad memories and fighting with us americans like the country of freedom we have to allow they to build their mosque in ground zero.

  9. The cartoon to me means that usa is a country of no tolerence. They do not accept the building of the mosque in ground zero. This issue is causing alot of problems, americans feel offended by this. in my point of view usa is trying to scare them away.
